One of the most recent developments that Global Reach has been following is a set of rules developed by an organization called dmarc.org. These rules and regulations, collectively referred to as DMARC, were created in an effort to reduce internet spam, by helping to prevent spammers, spoofers and phishers from sending unauthentic email.

DMARC stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance. It is a simple and effective way to confirm where an email message came from, and whether or not that place is actually allowed to send mail for the domain it says it is from. Global Reach’s clients can't always tell a real message from a fake one. This leaves Global Reach to make very difficult choices about which messages to deliver and which ones might harm users.

Definitions:

Phisher – a person or organization that attempts to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

Spoofer – a person or organization that sends messages from a bogus email address or fakes the email address of another user.
