You Could Be Losing Valuable GA4 Data

In today’s data-driven digital landscape, every insight counts. However, if you’re using Google Analytics 4 (GA4), you might be unknowingly losing valuable historical data. By default, GA4 only retains event data for 2 months, a major limitation if you need to make long-term strategic marketing decisions.

Why Data Retention Matters in Google Analytics 4

For digital marketing agencies, search engine optimization (SEO) experts, and business owners, long-term data collection and retention are crucial for spotting trends, measuring marketing campaign success, and making informed business decisions. Without adjusting the retention settings in GA4, you will be left with incomplete data that hinders your ability to optimize your digital marketing strategies effectively.

Fortunately, you can extend your GA4 data retention period to 14 months, ensuring that you have access to more historical data for deeper insights. Here is how to extend your data retention and get the most out of GA4 as an analytics tool.

How to Extend Your Google Analytics 4 Data Retention to 14 Months

Adjusting your GA4 settings is a simple process that takes just a few minutes. Follow these steps to ensure your data stays available for longer:

  • Log into your Google Analytics account
  • Select the relevant property
  • Click on the Admin (gear icon) in the lower-left corner.

Step 2: Access Data Retention Settings
