A new website (www.housinginiowa.org), developed by Global Reach Internet Productions, is helping evacuees of the Katrina disaster to find housing in Iowa. Sponsored by the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA), the website allows property management firms and property owners to post their vacant properties to the site. The website provides advanced search functions to help evacuees and organizations assisting them to find housing that will serve their immediate needs. “We are glad to partner with IFA, helping the disaster evacuees to find a place to live in Iowa”, said Iacovos Zachariades, President and CEO. "This project would normally take 2 months to develop, yet Global Reach pulled most of its resources over the Labor Day weekend and had this live on Tuesday afternoon, 96 hours after it was assigned to us."
Iowans are participating in the relief effort by listing their vacant homes, apartments, and even rooms that may offer accommodation for evacuees. Since its launch on Tuesday, September 7th, the website has had more than 750 properties listed that can accommodate up to 3000 individuals.
About the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA): Established in 1975, IFA undertakes programs to assist in the attainment of housing for low- and moderate-income Iowans. For more information please go to www.ifahome.com
