Please note that the Windows 8 Mail application only supports IMAP accounts. We recommend IMAP for mobile devices and POP3 for desktops/laptops. Using another client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird will allow you to add a POP3 account, which will then allow messages to be saved on your local machine. See our other Mail Client Setup Instructions for information on setting up a POP3 account with a different client.
To configure the Windows 8 Mail application :
1. On the Start screen, select the Mail tile.
2. If prompted, sign in to your Microsoft account or click Sign into each app separately instead and then enter Microsoft account login. If you do not have a Microsoft account, click Sign up for a Microsoft account to create one.
*If you are using a local account on your computer, you may be asked to confirm your local account password before signing into your Microsoft account.
3. Drag the mouse to the upper right hand edge of the screen and click Settings.
4. Select Accounts.
5. Select Add an account.
6. Choose Other Account.
7. Click Show more details. Enter your account information:
a. Email address: Enter your Global Reach email address
b. Username: Enter your Global Reach email address
c. Password: Enter your Global Reach email password
d. Incoming (IMAP) email server: Enter mail.globalreach.com
e. Port: Enter 993
f. Incoming server requires SSL: Check
g. Outgoing (SMTP) email server: Enter mail.globalreach.com
h. Port: Enter 465
i. Outgoing Server requires SSL: Check
j. Outgoing server requires authentication: Check
k. Use the same username and password to send and receive mail: Check
8. Click on Connect.
You should now be setup to receive and send email with your Global Reach email via Windows 8 Mail. If you have any trouble with this process, please contact Global Reach Support at email@example.com.
