Everyone has a Website these days, especially businesses. Some are better than others.

Iacovos Zachariades, who earned a graduate degree from Iowa State University, has been revamping, redesigning, improving, and creating websites to be more efficient, hold more information, and be more attractive for nearly a decade.

Zachariades is the president and chief executive officer of what he says is one of the largest web development companies in Iowa: Global Reach Internet Productions in Ames.

The company he founded in 1995, located at the ISU Research Park, recently was presented the small category Technology Company of the Year award by Software and Information Technology of Iowa.

He says that in each of the past four years Global Reach has doubled its number of clients and doubled its number of employees. At the same time, revenues have increased by 800 percent.

"We can help make it so a company's website is more than just an online brochure," Zachariades said.

But that's just scratching the surface.

Since 2003, Global Reach has upped its client list to more than 250, opened offices in Korea and Cyprus, which is Zachariades' homeland.

The Web development company also has rolled out two new products in the last year: InViewsion and SiteViz.

InViewsion is a Web-based application that enables website owners to create and launch surveys quickly and easily while getting results instantaneously.

SiteViz is a content management solution that is completely browser-based. It can provide an online document library, workflow capabilities, and support multiple domains and different entry points.

Global Reach also has a program called PropertyFusion that gives real estate agents the ability to add, delete and edit listings in minutes. The program also offers virtual tours, fact sheets, and maps.

And there's eGlobalStores, a shopping cart application.

"For a minimal amount of cost, we can set up a business to have an online catalog and shopping cart that they can manage themselves," Zachariades said.

The products must be working. Global Reach's client list is pretty impressive and may only get larger in the coming months.

Clients include the Treasurer of the State of Iowa, Andersen Windows, Next Generation Realty, Iowa Realty, ISU, Drake University, and the ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship.

Zachariades also has been hired to develop an advanced web solution for the Civil Air Patrol headquartered in Alabama.

And then there is a classified project where Global Reach developed a knowledge warehouse for the U.S. Army.

"We've never lost a client," Zachariades said. "I always say we do advanced programming, and we do it well."

He is currently negotiating four mergers and acquisitions that would expand the client list, as well.

"We have plans to keep growing," Zachariades said. "Hopefully, we can expand our operation in Des Moines. This could be a pretty big thing in three years."
