Which Social Media Platforms Should You be Using?

More in this section

Social media is a vital part of marketing for many successful businesses.  However, it can prove to be difficult for those without the resources of a big company.  To help the uninitiated, we’ve provided a quick guide on the three social media sites that are making a big impact today.

  1. Facebook: Facebook is still number one when it comes to social media websites.  It has the largest amount of users and is still growing every day.  Facebook can really jumpstart your social media by building relationships.  You can get on a more personal level with your customers.  This is great for companies who can share success, community involvement, and a look into what your business does day to day that the customer couldn’t see before.  This makes the customer feel more intertwined in your business and interested in your success.  This relationship is vital to help build customers and keep the customers you have interested.  Best example: Red Bull

  2. Twitter: Although Twitter does not have as many users as Facebook, it is still a very important section of social media.  Millions of people use twitter each day to share ideas with others.  This can have a large impact on your business.  Let’s say your customer has a bad experience with your company.  Many customers today are going to twitter to voice their opinions about how they like the company.  From here, all of their followers see this information and are impacted as well.  If you have a Twitter account you can take action by tweeting back and trying to correct the customer’s issue.  This, in turn, will spread good publicity about your brand to all of the followers you (and they) have.  Twitter is one of the best customer service tools in social media today.  Check out JetBlue Airways as a great example.

  3. LinkedIn: LinkedIn is the most professional of social media outlets today.  It has a ride range of benefits.  The first is recruitment.  Studies have shown that LinkedIn decreases the time it takes to fill a position by 50%.  This can be a huge cost and time savings for your company.  Another important aspect of the website is the professional recommendations section.  This allows colleagues, customers, or anyone else you know to write meaningful recommendations that everyone else on LinkedIn can see.  This means when an interested customer comes to your page they can immediately see you have the qualifications necessary and good feedback on them.  A great example is Hewlett-Packard.

For your social media to thrive, you do need to invest some time into it.  Global Reach has helped many companies take their social media strategies to the next level and helped maintain the sites to lessen the investment in time you would have to make.  If you are interested in what we could do for your company, please contact us.
