We are incredibly excited to announce the completion of the first, and only, National Electrical Outage Map. Global Reach is striving to drive further web-based innovation within the electrical industry. Our National Electrical Outage Map has the power and potential to provide outage communication improvements and increased electrical restoration efficiency within the electrical industry. By enabling cooperatives to join together and combine outage information, the industry can be better prepared for power restoration and for lending a hand to neighbors in need.
Often, the electrical industry is segmented into 3 groups providing power to the public: rural electrical cooperatives, investor-owned utilities, and municipal utilities. As one of the only companies harnessing direct integration with three of the industry's leading outage management software vendors, Global Reach is uniquely positioned to collect and display electrical outage information for all three of these industry segments!
So why Global Reach? For many years now, we have been providing electrical outage maps for individual states like Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and South Dakota. As we began exploring and speaking with more statewide electrical associations, we uncovered a prevalent need and desire within the industry for a nationalized effort for outage data sharing and communication. We began exploring the feasibility of supporting this desire and determined that by coupling our experience with electrical outage maps and current reporting integrations with NiSC, Milsoft and Futura (SEDC) that wish could become a reality.
On May 1st, Taylor Wolf, our Director of Business Development, will be taking a team to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's Connect 2017 Conference to spread the word and continue building excitement about the National Electrical Outage Map initiative!
"National Rural Electric Cooperative Association CONNECT is an annual national conference for electric cooperative communications, marketing, and member service professionals. It brings together more than 550 electric co-op professionals for two and one-half days of sessions offering best practices; resources and creative tools to enhance member communication; access to the latest information on new energy innovations and technologies that can reduce costs; strategies to improve efficiency and build customer service; and outstanding networking opportunities."
